Mano de Fatima

As some might know, I´m in love with all things Arabic and Spiritual, so this one is a snapshot of an (almost finished) Hand of Fatima, a symbol against the evil eye. It got enriched by Om and the Ajna (3rd eye) Chakra and Sahasrara (crown) Chakra, a Mohak (3rd) eye and some of the typical Mohak feathers. Enjoy! Feel free to leave me your comments and thoughts over here.

Taous - Essaouira

A yet another bird has arrived. Don´t know yet who it is. But I´m most happy with him, such a beauty (seriously). In fact you should try to see the paintings in real, as the picture can only reveil a fraction of them, the colors and dimension are a lot more vibrant, when you stand in front of them.

The second one is an Amazigh mandala sporting the freedom symbol (and letter z of the amazight alphabet) and the name "Tin Hinan" in Tifinagh. Tin Hinan was the queen of the Tuareg (who where brought together as one tribe on base of a matriachart).

Street Maroc

Getting back to the good old DHL stickers, hand made and colorful, eventually matching them to the clothing of passersby.

VAGE pres: Graffito // The Voice of the Common Man

Thanks to all involved for that beautiful Berlin arty night!
"Serpiente Esplumada" - Dios Quetzalcoatl - October 2012
shown at The WYE in Berlin Kreuzberg

11. October 2012 (11.10.12)

"Most of the Mayan deities found in Mexico are female. Where you see a serpent, dragon or similar, the deity is a metaphor for the Mother of the Universe, which is the fundamental spiral."

I go with this one. Quetzalcoatl, the Feathered Serpent God, is described as a man in history, but my serpent is definitely a woman.

Graffito @ THE WYE, Berlin

Graffito / The Voice of the Common Man (Group Show)

*One night pop-up exhibition at The WYE*

Contemporary Adaptations by:

Dead Wait, Plotbot, ALANIZ, Talissa Mehringer, ELFRIEDES, Sonia, DEVI (Style wars 2), RallitoX and MOHAK.

VAGE presents the first edition of our monthly Pop-Up Gallery featuring emerging and established local and international artists. The exhibitions take place on the second Thursday of every month.

-----------------
THE EXHIBITION //
The artists were asked to research and be inspired by a piece of ancient graffiti. Using modern day materials and referencing current issues, each artist has created a piece that reflects the historic image they have selected.

THE HISTORY //
Graffiti is recorded to date back as far as 40,000 years. Without the carvings from pre-existing cultures, contemporary research would have a limited understanding of the average man in ancient civilizations. A bias of wealth and power. The average man in the contemporary world bids for a voice within society using the modern materials and tools that are available to them. GRAFFITO explores these current approaches.

Meanings of Symbols: ZickZack

Thought I´d provide you with some of the meanings of symbols and structures that always reoccur in my paintings.

"If the center line of the Z slants left it indicates the path of the soul - the journey the spirit takes and the walk that is made on within the spirit. If the middle line in the Z slants to the right, this indicates forces that call loudly to a person's soul - passions or issues that compel a person to take a chosen path of life. The two horizontal lines (top and bottom - connecting the middle slant line) indicate the journey of life and the understanding as we walk upon the grounding plane of Earth - we area also living the life of Sky. These lines definitions are common to Plains Native Peoples of North America."
